Raleigh Events this Weekend: Mark Your Calendar!

This post is for you local readers (except for #2 is for ALL of you). There's LOTS going on this weekend in Raleigh. Lots of opportunities to save money, to love up on others, and to have some fun. Here's 4 happenings beginning this Thurs-Saturday (9/29-10/1):

1. Want to make extra money on your kids' clothing?? The Monkey Exchange show. . .my sister's upscale children's consignment business. . . is coming up.

You can register NOW to consign.

And the show is Oct 5-7. Click the button above for all the shopping details. There is free babysitting on Oct 5 from 9-12 and then on Friday, Oct 7, everything is 20% off.

2. Michaels is having a Family and Friends Event Thurs, Sept 29- Sat, Oct 1. With this coupon, you can get 20% off your entire purchase, including sale items. I used to work at Michaels so I am a still a friend of some of the employees there. . and ya'll are my friends. . so I am passing the link onto you. Click here for the coupon.

3. This Saturday, October 1, Open Door Baptist Church (9801 Durant Rd) is having a craft fair from 9:30-3:30. Our friends the Corbetts will be there selling their "Critter Keepers".

These "Critter Keepers" will help raise money for the Corbett's adoption of a little girl from Ethiopia (they are adopting with the same agency we used with Galeta). This was their 7 year old son's idea!!

Friends would see Bryce's bug cage that his dad made him and wanted one of their own. . so Bryce asked his mom and dad if they could earn money for their adoption by making these cages for other kids. They are just $15. For more of the story, read the post about Critter Keepers on the Corbett's blog.

4. And after you hit the craft show, come to Lakemont Pool (409 Harvard St) for Flapjack Jam. Starting at 3pm, there will be live music, a pancake dinner, and an awesome silent auction. All proceeds got to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Our pool friend, Dylan Smith, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at 6 months of age. He is now a feisty 1st grader! Last year our neighborhood started a fund raiser called The Flapjack Jam to raise money to find a cure for cystic fibrosis – a disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide).

Last year, the pool moms' and neighborhood families' goal was to raise $1000, and they were able to raise more than $5000 – only spending $40 on the event itself, due to generous donations! This year they have set their sights on raising more than $10,000. Would you come on out and support their big dream? I also know it would make Dylan smile.
